How to Clean a Washer Inlet Screen

1. Unplug the washer and shut off hot and cold water valves at the wall.
2. Place towels under the hose connections at the back of the washer.
3. Disconnect inlet hoses — note hot vs cold if your valves are not color marked.
4. Remove mesh screens from the wall valves and from the washer inlet ports; rinse with water and a soft brush.
5. Reinstall screens, reconnect hoses hand-tight plus a quarter turn, turn water on, and check for leaks before plugging in.
6. Run a short fill cycle — this fixes many 4C/4E/E4 fill errors without replacing the inlet valve.
